LIFE - from teraroop11.blogspot.com

Well firstly, I am so uneducated and hypocritical - I do not follow maryada properly
I don't know the first thing about ghiaan or dhiaan or karma
But as far as rehit is concerned in any way .. how is anything practical?
I know this is very off topic for this thread
but people above were talking about how things are practical
I don't think it's about practicality ever in Sikhi
I think it's about loveI mean what is Sikhi without love and faith?
We need to learn a lot from the Gursikhs in our history...
How can you drink the water after washing the Guru's feet?
How can you clean the GUru's feet with your hair?
How can you sacrifice your mind by cutting it apart and putting it before the Guru?
How can you go into the battle field and not come out even if you are ripped apart ?
How can you work with your hands while doing simran?
How can you do simran 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year?
How can you see God in everybody? How can you have no revenge, but always justice?
How could you have so much love for your Guru that whenever you call him he appears before you in the flesh?
How could you have so much love for the GUru that you manage the whole langar yourself and even get mentioned in the Guru GRanth Sahib? How could you say that there are millions of other poor people like you - with the grace of the Sikhs your kingdom is established?
How could you get upand allow your Guru to chop off your head with his sword?
How could you pray that your skin is used as the shoes of Gursikhs?
How could you have your scalp cut off but not your hair?
How could you have your body cut piece by piece and continue reciting Gurbani?
How could you be cut on a spinning wheel? How could you be sawed in half?
How could you travel all around the world to preach Sikhi by foot?
If your father gave you money to invest, how could you spend it on setting up a langar for poor people?
If you had been held in a concentration camp and starved for many days, how could you tolerate your children being killed and their dead bodies being strung around your neck?
How could you sit in a boiling pot, then a hot stove, then have sand poured on your wounds?
How could you walk and fight oppressors while your head is cut off and in your palm?
How could you stay underwater for three days meeting with God?
How could you stop a falling rock with your hand?
How could a falling boulder melt into the shape of your body and not hurt you?
How could bitter nuts become sweet by the touch of your hand?
How could an ignorant deaf and mute man become a scholar of the Geeta by your touch?
How could countless sick people get cured by your touch?
If you realized that you had gone against hukam by bringing your dead friend back to life, how could you sacrifice your own life and die right there on the spot?
How could you throw yourself into a fire if the Guru promised you liberation for doing it?
How could you lead 40 men back to their Guru in the battlefield?
If 40 of your Sikhs deserted you and rejected you as their Guru, how could you manage to forgive them and give them liberation? How could you become the Guru's own bodyguard?
If the people of another religion needed your father to sacrifice his life, how could you encourage him to do this at the tender age of 9?
How could you watch your Sikhs being killed in many ways and then give your own life instead of accepting Islam and putting other religious groups at risk?
How could you be only 7 years old and reign the universe as the Guru of the Sikhs?
How could you be so wise at such a young age that the Guru himself calls you "Baba Buddha" ?How could you fight alongside your brothers in countless battles despite the negative stereotypes of women being weak?
How could you be bricked alive as a young child? How could you cut the heads off five people and bring them back to life?
How could you, being the Guru, accept five Khalsas as your Guru?
How could you tolerate losing all your family and kingdom, be forced to live in a jungle alone for some weeks, and still sing prayers that you can't live without God?
How could you walk everyday at 1 in the morning to get bathwater for your Guru while being over 70 years of age?
If the leg of your Guru's bathtub broke and only a sharp nail remained, how could you put your hand there and let it be crushed into the nail rather than allow the bathtub to fall over?
If your Guru commanded you to eat the dead body under a white sheet, how could you accept the command and ask which side to start on?
How could you, being the Guru, tell a Sikh that your beard was made to clean his feet?
How could you hold up the ship of your Sikh on your shoulder while sitting in a hut meditating?
If the whole town was taken over by imposters and fake-Gurus, how could you recognize the real Guru?
How could you eat the leftover nuts from the manure of the horses in the Guru's fort rather than let it go to waste?
How could you, despite being accused of being an elitist Brahmin, eat the left-overs of the sangat's langar rather than let it go to waste?
How could you manage to have your own son's beating heart thrust into your mouth?
How could you inspire your son-in-law to become Maharaja of Punjab, and then fight alongsidehim in many battles against oppressors?
If you were the Maharaja of Punjab and made mistakes against Sikhi, how could you tolerate being publically whipped at the Akal Takhat?
How could you have the spiritual faith and strength to stop the fastest flowing river in India in order to pass your army from one side to the other side?
If you were a Singh warrior, how could battle with countless oppressive armies, raid and loot villages, and have to rescue many young girls and women, but never once have a bad thought about them?
How could you fight to the death against thousands of attackers with one sword?
How could you live 40 days on a hunger strike rather than break your sarblohee bibek?
How could you spend almost 8 years in solitary confinement in a small dark room?
How could you put yourself on the edge of a well while doing simran so that if you fall asleep, you will die?
How could you start orphanages and treatment camps open to thousands of people regardless of their religion or background?
How could you work endlessly to protect the environment and the rights of animals in your society?
How could you do one akhand paat every week, every year for several years of your life?
How could you defend the Harimandir Sahib against tanks, helicopters and highly trained commandos with just a group of Singhs?
How could you get tens of thousands of people to take amrit in the span of a few months? How could you strap a bomb to your body and sacrifice your own life to bring justice to the corrupt chief minister of Punjab?
How could you sacrifice your own life to bring justice to the corrupt Prime Minister of India?
How could you spend years and years in Punjab jails being tortured? How could you fight endlessly for human rights despite the risks to your life?

and still have pyaar,
still have faith,
still do simran,
still love Guru jee?
and Still sing "thera keeaa meethaa laagai"

How could you?

Is it impractical?

These were real Sikhs - each and every line above.
And that is just a FRACTION OF THEM ALL.
How could they do those things for their Guru and still stay in Chardee Kalaa?
I could never.
I can't imagine.
I could never imagine.
I have no courage.
No love.
No faith.
I take this history for granted every day.
I'm over dramatic, unappreciative, irresponsible and fraudulent ...
I could never do these things.
These are the Khalsa above - this is what real faith is.
We are the children of a inexplicably magnificent legacy.
This is pyaar, this is Sikhi.
May Guru jee bless us with the dust of their feet.

anyway i am sorry for being off-topici talk too much

Martin Luther King: Breaking The Silence, 40 Years Late

something i found

In his last few years of life, Martin Luther King dedicated himself to helping the poor and preaching non-violence and humility to the USA government. His knew he was in grave danger. He was killed while helping out with a garbage collector’s strike. Now forty years later, his role has been “white-washed’ a great deal. Martin Luther King’s message is often limited in scope to his dream of harmony and fellowship between the races. This is what he really said:

Jaskaran Singh, age 6, gives an inspirational speech on the life of Martin Luther King:

MY LIFE IS TURNING TO HELL

A conversation i came across and it is worth reading.....
touched my heart and made me think....
hope it helps you too!!!!

MY LIFE IS TURNING TO HELL
26 Nov 07

Messenger Conversation between S & H this morning, felt lots of blessings as
the words were being written with Guru's kindness. So am sharing this
prayer with the sangat.

S:

Bro my life is turning into hell.
I say one thing and do another.
I feel like going and get drunk.
To get rid of tension.
I have not touched drugs in more then 1 year.
My health, love, life everything is gone.
I have severe depression.
Feel like dying.
No one can help me.
What shall i do?
My mind has been corrupted by porn.
I have mental disorder no energy for no life.
I feel good and energetic but then i end up masterabuing and feel shit
again.
No one can help me i Am so tired i feel like dying but i cant even commit
suicide because he wont let me.

H:

Its a slow process , remember be KIND to your MIND.
Start with appreciating the little things.
Thank you Satnaam Baba Ji for the air I breathe, You keep giving air to
everyone - slanderers and saints.
Thankyou Satnaam SatGuru ji for the sun on my face.
Thankyou Satnaam Satguru ji for each drop of water.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou,
I am not worthy,
I do not appreciate,
but whatever I am, Satnaam Satguru ji, I am YOURS.
Be kind, Be merciful, take me by the arm Satnaam Satguru ji and pull me out
of my deep dark well of scum that I am in.
I am nothing , YOU are everything,
I am a sinner, but YOU are the saver of the sinners.
I am in trouble, but YOU are the one who destroys all Troubles.
Please do not forget about me Satnaam Satguru Ji.
Bless me with Your purest Naam.
Bless me with singing you praises.
Bless me with the dust of your saints feet.
Bless me with good thoughts, Guru's wisdom.
Bless me with strength to get through this hard time.
Dear Satnaam Satguru ji, I have no one else, I have no place of my own.
You are the home of the homeless.
You are the strength of the weak.
You are the Giver of All,
I seek your Shelter,
I seek the cool shade of Your Lotus feet.
Keep me always and forever in the shelter of your Lotus Feet.
Always and forever keep your hand above my head.
You are my Brave Guru.
Please stand above my head and protect me.
You are the strength of the weak, please come and give me Your strength.

S:

Thanks I felt good just by reading this

H :

Keep praying like this.
Keep talking to SatNaam Satguru like this.
In your darkest hour, when you have no Light, when you have only depression
and death as your tormentors, REMEMBER THAT ONE and HELL wont touch you.
Satnaam.
Satnaam.
Satnaam.
Satnaam.
Satnaam.
Always and forever,
my beloved and my Protector
Satnaam Satguru.
Always be with me, in me and around me

S:

I actually feel like crying.

H:

Be the cool wind.
Be the cool water for my hell-fire mind

S:

What you said makes me emotional.

H:

This is how we pray.
This is the real prayer from the depths of our soul which we sometimes ONLY
reach when we are in the deepest, darkest place of our mind.
The thirsty soul speaks through the scum of the mind, it makes us emotional,
those tears we cry wash away our filth.
Wash the Gurus feet with those tears.
That's where we go to cry.
That's where we go to die.
Ego torments us, we get frustrated, angry at ourselves, cant escape, get
suicidal, but learn to die in the true way.
Die at the feet of Satnaam Satguru ji.
Put your head on the Guru's feet and never lookup again in ego.
Die such a death that you never have to die again.
Love such a love that you know Eternal Love.
Satnaam.
Satguru.
Satsangat.
I am nothing YOU are everything.
Thank you for my breath,
for the water,
for the food,
for this chance in TIME and SPACE in this PLACE to do some good,
to do some simran,
to serve some one,
to live for others,
to become desire free,
to die at your Lotus feet.
This DARK AGE is hot, SAT NAAM is cool.
Satnaam
Satnaam
Satnaam.
Thank you for letting me do some service for you S. Thankyou for letting us
pray together in this way. God Bless You always and forever.

S:

Bro I cannot thank you enough. I can only wash your feet.

H:

Lie down now, and relax, just notice your breath, going in and out, and let
all the other thoughts just fly by like clouds in the sky.
Those thoughts are NOT YOU, do not get fooled by them, do not start getting
frustrated by them, dont identify with them, learn to step back and
recognize them, and let them fly by like clouds in the sky of the mind.

S:

Yeah.

H:

Once you are back in balance, then also realize that those thought only
overwhelm us when we haven't been cleaning them out. That's why even 5 min
relaxation, breathing, letting go, thanking , saying Satnaam keeps us free.

S:

Yeah.

H:

So feel better now?

S: Much better. Thank you.

H:

I could feel Satnaam Satguru ji sending you plenty of Amrit during that
prayer. Thank Satnaam Satguru Ji.

S:

I feel happy now

H:

That's what Sat-sangat does for us, someone else is overflowing with amrit
and someone else is drowning in sorrow, one helps the other - God does it
all, like water flows from high to low

S:

Yeah.

H:

If you like, print out the prayer we did together above, and use it when you
need it.

OK?

S:

I Am on mobile but i Am GONNA write it on a piece of paper

H:

Everything else ok?

S:

Yep, thanks

H:

OK then take care, stay in the Light, stay free of those thoughts, Your
Blessed Blessed – Stay in Peace. Dhan Dhan Sukhee Raho,

dust of your feet, H.

S: You too bye.

GIVING YOUR HEAD

Guru Gobind Singh Ji tried, to keep you on the right track
You gave Him your head, but then you took it back
Turning your back on Guru Ji, how did it feel?
Or were you too busy convincing yourself, that "It's really no big deal"
Remember that day when you took Amrit and made a vow?
What happened to those promises, who is your Guru now?
You sold out your Sikhi, and that’s the plain truth
You ruined this precious life, saying "I want to enjoy my youth"
To make yourself feel better, you can say whatever you want to
But one dreadful day, your words will come to haunt you
And when that day comes, you will regret what you have done
You lost your honour, in a battle you should have won
This world is just maya, it will take your Sikhi away
Tell me, did you forget that you are gonna die one day?
When this dream called life reaches its end
Then who will be your saviour, your helper, your True Friend?
There is still hope, you need to sharpen your mind
Go towards Guru Ji, and the Truth you will find
To merge with God, you were sent to earth
Trying to impress the world, you wasted the human birth
Did you think of those mothers, who wore their babies around their necks?
Or did all you think about, was attracting the opposite sex?
The very same hair that Guru Ji put Amrit in
You grabbed the scissors, and committed the ultimate sin
Guru Ji's Sons gave their lives, so you can be a Sikh
Their Sikhi remained strong, with each and every brick
Now is the time, for you to wake up and take control
Guru Ji is the water, that will sooth your burning soul
Do you really want to come back to this hell on earth?
Wandering and suffering, birth after birth
You say you're not ready to take Amrit, that's always your reply
But think about this...are you ready to die?
You think you'll practice Sikhi, in the future when you are old
But tell me, do you know when your body will turn cold?
When it’s all said and done, you will be full of sorrow and regret
You'll want to go to Sach Khand, but the requirements were not met
Guru Ji's arms are wide open, and He is waiting for you
It’s time to take action, and do what you gotta do
Change your life RIGHT NOW!, don't wait another day
Tomorrow may never come, then what will be left to say?
That Guru Gobind Singh Ji tried to put me on the right track
I gave Him my head, but then I took it back.

The State of My Nation. How Far Did You Take Your Amrit?

The State of My Nation. How Far Did You Take Your Amrit?

Now this is a message, to all you young and old
A story everyone knows, yet it's never been told
The state of my nation, today, is a shame
I'm here to let you know, the rules to this game
Before I begin, I'll apologize to you
You don't want to hear the truth but that's how we do.

We call ourselves children of the King of Perfection
Have you ever looked ahead, at your own reflection?
How far have you taken your Amrit, Singh?
Do you know what it means, to represent the True King?

Your blue bana blows, as you walk with a limp
Your nice kirpan and clean dastar, callin' yourself a "pimp"
You don't even know the name of Guru Nanak's Father,
You'd rather check out all the Singhnees and tell them to holler

You walk into the scene thinking you're so great,
You never do your nitnem, but hey, that can wait...
You want to make sure everyone thinks you're hot
You want to show all the sangat the respect you've got

Guru Gobind Singh, Mata Sahib Kaur, yeah they'll forgive me,
You say, oblivious, to their great Kurbani
You think it's all good if you look the part,
You yourself don't realize, you'll have to depart

Where'd your Bani go, your simran and sweetness?
Did you lose it all in the pleasures of fake, false bliss?
You dress up in Bana as if God is a game
You're getting jealous of other Singhs and you forgot The Name!!

You have rivalry with x,y, and z Singh,
There is even a girl with which you have a fling!!
Have you forgot where you're from, Sri KesGarh Sahib?
Did you forget our Shaheed's blood at Sri Amritsar Sahib?

Do you realize the great bhagti of Baba Deep Singh ji?
Of Mata Bhag Kaur, and dear Bhai Mani Singh ji?
They took their Amrit straight to Sach Khand, and proved, it's true
This Amrit can make lions, of weaklings like you

Now tell me about your Amrit, where did you take it?
You're living in a lie, but to your Guru, don't fake it
You should be seeing every girl like a sister or mother,
But you've told em "hey baby, don't call me your brother"

It's a SHAME to the name, and the fame of Sikhi,
Where'd you take your Amrit and where should you be?
You look down on people who cut their hair,
But you have no Sikhi inside, so how would you compare?

Now listen, Sikh girls, you aint any less,
Your desire's can't be hid beneath a nice Khalsa dress
Your Bana, kirpan, hair, sure, it gives you grace,
But you hide and bleach all the hair on your face...

I know it's hard, sister, to be this strong
But you have every excuse to do what's wrong
You hide under your graceful shawl and suit,
Walkin in the Gurdwara, thinkin "Hey, that Singh's cute"

What has become, of the Khalsa glory, dear Kaur
Without your Amritvela, you've just lost your core,
And even those who have Amritvela and Bana - whoa!!
Are still caught in slandering every girl they know

You should be a leader, ambassador of Truth
But you're wrapped in the false beauty of youth
You want to prove to everyone that you're better than them,
You're holding on to rocks, letting go of the gem

Forget Gurbani, and nitnem, and showerin' and prayers
We wanna get guys and girls, we wanna live like players
We look so hot in our Bana, our 9'inch Kirpans and Pughs
Forget Singh Shaheeds, our role models are Thugs

We enter the Gurdwara, and we swear and do ninda,
But we don't ever forget to wear t-shirts of Sukha & Jinda!!
Yeah, sure, parade Sant Jarnail Singh ji's face on your shirt,
Without learning his legacy, and keepin' your mind in the dirt

Why do we pretend to understand our Guru's grace?
We've taken our Amrit into the dirt, black is our face
And the saddest thing about this is it's 100% true
And unfortunately, I'm in the same spot as you.

Tequila and Salt and Good Friends

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

So...........If you are a loving friend, send this to everyone, including the one that sent it to you. If you get it back, then they really do love you.

And always remember....when life hands you Lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over!

Good friends are like stars........

You don't always see them,

But you know they are always there.

'Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway'

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

BLOOD

Today, we had a blood donors session at the gurdwara (sikh place of worship)

It went well, not as well as it has in the past but most people were full of cold or busy elsewhere - studies or other programs. We had 30 attended and approx. 21 donated.

Watch the videos below and see what giving blood is about

My DAD

Yesterday, i realized something
Something i've never known how to say
I nearly lost my dad yesterday
And i realized how much he means to me

I've never known my real mum
She left me when i was small
I've been brought up in a family
Who always put me and my sis second
Except my dad

My dad, he may be old, he may be tired
But he's experience and wise
He's always been there for us
And only has one dream:
To see his grandchildren as an image of us

Now, 15 years old, i've realized what life is about
And i have to live it....not for anyone
But my dad

He always wanted the best for his kids
And always put us first

But as the oldest....i have to help....
I have to show how much we care
I have to lead by his example

My DAD he's my best friend!!
